The eight famous bridges of Budapest

You are planning to visit Budapest in the near future, or have already spent some exciting days there? Millions of tourists visit Budapest year by year. As I walk in the city every day, I see that almost all of them are like the capital of Hungary very much.

Every tourist visiting Budapest would like to cross the first stone bridge of the town, the renowned Chain Bridge at least once and most of them stand amazed in front of the Elizabeth Bridge or the mythical falcon-like birds of the Hungarians on the top of the Liberty Bridge. The favorite weekend picnic area of Budapest, the Margaret Island (Margit-sziget) can be reached through the second permanent bridge, the Margaret Bridge. Many are fascinated by 100 meters high pylon of the newest Northern bridge, the Megyeri Bridge, forming a letter 'A'.

I myself have been living in Budapest for more than 30 years, and decided to publish the history, and some interesting information about the bridges of Budapest.

At the central pillar, a side-bridge leading up to Margaret Island was attached to Margaret Bridge. Until its completion in 1900, the island was only accessible by boat.Read more
